Election-day scanner failures delay voting in Republika Srpska and Zenica-Doboj — General elections, the first with scanners and biometric voter ID, opened on 4 October with technical faults. Bijeljina’s election commission chief said 34 polling stations did not open and 150 did, with some polling-board members withdrawing where scanners failed and some switching to unapproved manual voting; in Zenica-Doboj Canton police reported about 70 stations delayed (25 in Zenica, 25 in Kakanj, 12 in Visoko, 7 in Maglaj, 1 in Vareš), with Usora fixed. Kurir (pro-SNSD-leaning coverage of the region) headlined a far higher figure of 184 stations in Bijeljina; I could not reconcile that with the commission’s figure. Event date: 4 October 2026.
